Digging post holes by hand is one of those jobs that sounds simple until you're three holes in, your arms are burning, and you still have forty more to go before the fence line is done.
For anyone doing fencing, tree planting, orchard installation, or deck footings at any kind of scale, a gasoline earth auger doesn't feel like a luxury. It feels like the obvious tool that should have been there from the start.
Auston's gasoline earth auger (Model L-Y04) is built for exactly that kind of work — and it comes in two engine configurations depending on how much ground you need to cover.
Two Engine Options: 51.7cc and 63.3ccThe L-Y04 is available in two versions. Choose based on your typical working conditions:
The 51.7cc model runs on a 1E44-5F engine, producing 1.65kW at 7,500rpm. It carries a 1.1L fuel tank and weighs 10.35kg complete. This is the right configuration for general farm and garden use — tree planting, nursery work, orchard rows, vineyard post holes — where you're working across mixed soil conditions and need a machine that's manageable for a single operator over a full day.
The 63.3cc model steps up to a 1E48F engine delivering 2.2kW at 9,000rpm. The larger 1.75L fuel tank and 12.5kg frame suit harder applications: rocky ground, dense clay, deep fence post holes, construction site footings. More power means the auger keeps turning when lighter machines start to bog down.
Both models have been durability-tested to 200 hours and carry CE certification.
Three Auger Bit DiametersThe L-Y04 is compatible with 150mm, 200mm and 250mm auger drill bits, which covers the main range of practical applications:
150mm (6 inch): Standard fence post holes — the diameter used for most timber post installations in garden fencing, paddock enclosures, and trellis work. Fast to drill, suitable for the lighter 51.7cc engine.
200mm (8 inch): Tree planting holes for saplings, orchard establishment, and larger fence posts. The middle size handles the majority of agricultural and landscaping work.
250mm (10 inch): Larger tree pits, deck footings, sign post installation, and agricultural applications that need a wider diameter. Better suited to the 63.3cc engine at this diameter in harder soils.
What People Actually Use These ForThe practical application list is wider than most buyers initially consider. Common use cases include:
For any application that involves repetitive hole-digging — particularly in rows — the productivity difference over hand tools is not marginal. It's the difference between a half-day job and a two-day job.
For Wholesale and Distribution BuyersThe L-Y04 is available from MOQ 2 sets, with supply capacity of 1,000 units per week. OEM and ODM services are available — covering customized color, logo, packaging, and auger bit combinations. Delivery for factory-brand stock is within 7 working days of order confirmation; OEM orders run approximately 40 days from confirmation.
Multiple auger bit sizes can be included or offered as separate SKUs depending on your market's typical applications.
